Lexi's Creations.....Make a gift anything but a card

Hi Susan here....

Today at Lexi's Creations we are at the beginning of a new challenge....this one is slightly different than what we usually do in so far as we don't want you to make a card, we want you to make the gift instead.

The theme is...
Make a Gift - Anything but a card

Bit of a challenge I am sure for some and needs some thought, but there are lots of ways that you can do this, you can alter items like books, candles and jars, you could even make notebooks, gift boxes, gift bags etc.....

Come along to Lexi's Creations and join in the fun with us on this challenge, full details can be found on the blog along with our sponsor and lots of inspiration from my very talented design team.

Now for my creation...

I altered a candle to give to a friend for a present.
My base card was a gorgeous textured white card from Paper Mill Direct. I used an edging die to cut out the beautiful lacy edge, this is from Sizzix and then added some woven ribbon available from Fairy Dust Crafts Store.

I used two images from the Fairy Dust Crafts Store on this gift. The sentiment 'Special Friend' and the flower image 'Baby Bugs Flower'.
I coloured the image and around the edge of the sentiment using distressing inks from Tim Holtz, the flower was cut out very closely to the image so that I could layer it onto the candle and sentiment.

This was a very simple gift but looks really effective.

Thank you for taking the time to look, and for your wonderful comments.
Love and hugs

A New Home......

Hi there Susan here....

Today is the start of a new challenge at Cute Card Thursday and the theme is 'Make you own'. This week we want to see your cards/projects using embellishments you have made yourself....so no shop bought flowers, stickers etc. You can use punches, stamps, paper and material to make your own. The sponsor this time is Some Odd Girl, and they will be giving the winner of this challenge the choice of up to 4 images from their store.

My card was made using backing papers from my stash, I mat and layered onto a plain blue card, all the edges were distressed and glittered. The orange card border was done using a Multi Shaper allDeco Punch, I love using these punches they are so versatile, because they do circles, ovals, squares, rectangles and straight edges, and turn corners great!!

My beautiful bird house is designed by Hope Jacare Doodles it is called 'Bird House 2' and can be found at Stitchy Bears Stamps shop. I used Pro-Markers to colour it in, I gently inked the background before distressing the edges and glittering.

My orange daisy type flowers were made using a die cut from Sizzix. I glittered them after joining the multi layers together.

My sentiment was made on the computer.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:-

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my card, I hope you liked it.

Innocence

I love using these stamps by Sarah Kay, they are such innocent looking images of a bygone era.
The papers I used were from my stash, I must have had for years....

The lace I surrounded the image with was from my local market, I love using lace and ribbons on my cards especially when the images are so cute. I use distressing inks and pro-markers to colour in my stamped image.
The large flower I made using two sizes of Spellbinders scalloped nestabilities using an old book for the paper, I used distressing ink to colour the paper and screwed it up as much as possible to give a really soft ruffled effect before I joined all the layers together with the button in the middle. The other flowers that surround this one are from the Prima range.
The corner was made using a Sizzix die and coating with clear Glossy Accents.

I hope you like my creation, thank you for looking.

Sunflowers

The printed image and backing papers for this card were from My Craft Studio, which I decoupaged. The centre of the flowers were finished using micro beads. I made the large sunflowers myself using a sizzix die that I layered up to six times to get the effect.
The buckle is made from chipboard that I have had in my stash for ages, I coloured it with distressing inks and covered it with glossy accents.
A Martha Stewart punch was used for the edges of my two accent papers.

Hope you like this card, thanks for looking.
