Fussy and Fancy.....More than words

Hi Susan here....

Today at Fussy and Fancy we have a new challenge starting....it's one of my favourite. The theme is 'MORE THAN WORDS'. The emphasis of your creation has to be on the words, any images used must be secondary to the sentiment.
For full details call across to the Fussy and Fancy Challenge Blog you will also be able to see some fabulous inspiration from the Design Team, you will be so impressed it's worth a look!!

Now for my card...

I have used colours very close to my heart for this one...green is a favourite in our family.
The backing papers I have had in my stash for ages, so delicate I couldn't resist using them. The plain green textured card is from Paper Mill Direct, I love using their card and always keep a good supply in stock.

The pearls, ribbon and lace as always are from a little market stall here in Manchester, I wish they were on-line, it is like a hive of craft essentials, everywhere you turn there is something else to look at.

The flowers are all from Hobby Craft.

This gorgeous and very loving sentiment has been designed by Lexi Lee and is available from Fairy Dust Crafts.
Good sentiments are a dream to work with, and although I have kept the shape very simple for this card the design possibilities are endless.

Thank you for taking the time to look and for all your wonderful comments

Lexi's Creations.....Monochromatic

Hi Susan here....

Today over at Lexi's Creations we have a new challenge starting and the theme is -
'MONOCHROMATIC'
This can be such an exciting challenge, the main thing is to just use shades of one colour.
Full details of the challenge and the sponsor can be found on the Lexi's Creations Blog. Plus you will find some absolutely amazing inspiration from the Design Team for this challenge.

I hope you can join us this time...
but for now here is my card...

I have chosen shades of pink for my monochromatic card....the backing paper I have had in my stash for ages and is the most beautiful shades of dusky pinks.
The lace is from our local market, but the ribbon I actually snipped off some underwear that I had recently bought and it had two very long lengths of gorgeous deep pink ribbon, too nice to leave on the underwear.
The hearts are a die, and the little butterfly is a punch.

This gorgeous image has been designed by Lexi Lee and is available from Fairy Dust Crafts, it is called 'Molly with Lillies' I love using this image. I have used chalks to colour it and again around the edges of the topper.

This large flower I have made using a die and inks and some plain white card. The rest of the flowers are from Hobby Craft. The leaves are from a punch.

I want to thank you for looking and for all your fabulous comments.
Love and hugs

Lexi's Creations.....Love

Hi Susan here....

Isn't time flying, we are in February already and something special is looming upon us all. Valentines Day!!
Today over at Lexi's Creations we are starting a new challenge and the theme is 'LOVE'.
This can be for Valentines Day, or to show a friend your love, for your parents, your partners,
or any one you love. You can interpret the challenge anyway you want.
For full details and to get some amazing inspiration from the Design Team call across to

Now onto my card....

This has got to be one of my simplest designs.....the card was made due to a request from my Grandson for his girlfriend....Whoo Hoo I hear you saying and yes we said the same thing. I had strict instructions, no fancy work, no flowers and definately nothing raised off the card....as if I would lol!!

This was hard!
Then I saw the image designed by Lexi Lee for Fairy Dust Crafts, and knew exactly what I was going to do.

I printed the digi image called 'Heart on a Wire', available from Fairy Dust Crafts, onto white card, then using promarkers I coloured the main heart in bright red then added tons and tons of stickles....well he didn't say it couldn't glitter!!
I found a packet of heart stickers from Paperchase in my stash, perfect size, perfect colours and stuck them onto the little hearts that are on the 'wire'. It wasn't too raised, just a little.
This was beginning to be fun!
When it was all dry, I cut around the image in the shape of a fat heart and another one in white card using scallop scissors, I used chalk to shade the edge of the main heart and glued them both together. Then I have to confess I stuck it to the card base on sponge pads to raise it just a little bit, to give interest to the card, you understand, don't you!!

The blank ticket is originally from Raindrop Echo Designs, designed by Ann Vento, I blanked the middle out myself on the computer and added the text that my Grandson wanted on the card....

Now all I have to do is show him the card and hope it's simple enough!! Hope he like's it.

Thanks for looking and leaving me such wonderful comments.
Love and hugs

Happy Birthday to Jeni from me....

Hi Susan here....

This is a very special blog post for me, it is my daughter Jeni's birthday today and I wanted to wish her a beautiful Birthday with lots of laughs and memories.

This is the card I made just for her....

This is my favourite type of card to make I think they are so dramatic and I know that Jeni loves them too.

My backing papers are from my stash, I used them because they are Jeni's favourite colours, they are very 'arty' and remind me of an old masters painting.
All the beautiful swirls are from dies, I have inked them using similar colours to my backing paper.
The ribbon, lace and pearls as usual are from our local market.
The gorgeous butterfly in the background is a die, I have again used inks to colour it and attached pearls all over.

This is to show you the hidden tag, where my sentiment to Jeni has been written.

One of my favourite stamped images from Lili of the Valley, both my daughters used to dress up like this when they were little and every time I look at this image it brings a smile on my face when I remember them as little girls.  I have used promarkers to colour the image.

This flower I made just for Jeni because I know she likes them, the smaller roses are from Hobby Craft.

This gorgeous sentiment and frame are from Raindrop Echo Designs, I have colour the frame with inks and added glitter for a little bit of sparkle.

I hope you liked my card, and I hope you do too Jeni!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Thank you for looking, and for all your wonderful comments

Yes! It's another Christmas card....

Hi Susan here...

I know!! Another Christmas card, but you know you can't have too many at this time of the year...you always need one extra card to give to someone....so that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it hahaha!!

I hope you like it, I had some spare time and thought I would make something just for the fun of it!

I made a gatefold card for this project, hard to photograph I know but I like them and they look very effective when finished.
The backing paper I found in my stash, it is from Fancy Pants Designs.com and is called 'Saint Nick'. I love this paper it has swirls and snowflakes in the background that are all muted. I aged the outer edges of the paper with inks.
I used a die to make the swirls and added glitter to them after I had used inks to slightly alter the colour.
The flowers are from Hobby Craft and Crafty Emma's, gorgeous little flowers. I added little green gems all around them.
The gorgeous tree on the side is from Nitwits and looks like it is embossed, I added stickles to the 'embossed' parts and some pearls, a small ribbon bow to the trunk to finish it off.
The ticket and sentiment are from a set by Tim Holtz.

This view is to show you what it looks like stood up and the beautiful tree.

This is becoming one of my favourite stamps, it is from Nellie Snellen, check out Bunny Zoes they are in stock here. I used distressing inks to colour the image. I absolutely adore that little frog....he's just waiting for some magic to happen to him.

This beautiful sentiment is from Raindrop Echo Designs and has been designed by Ann Vento. I changed the colour of the wording on the computer to match my colour scheme.

Thank you for looking and your wonderful comments

Lexi's Creations...One for the lads

Hi Susan here...

Can you believe it will be the beginning of December later this week, Christmas is just around the corner with all its excitement....ooooh I can't wait!! I am just a kid at heart I think, I love this time of year, giving handmade cards and presents to friends and family and seeing their faces, its wonderful and I always look forward to it.

Today at Lexi's Creations we decided to have a challenge that sometimes is hard for some people, but the men in our lives deserve to have a nice handmade card just like us girls, so the theme of the new challenge is 'One for the lads' and it can be a birthday or Christmas or anything else card, its up to you.
For full details of the challenge, our sponsor and to set you eyes on some great inspiration from the design team call across to Lexi's Creations.

Now onto my card....

I chose to make a man's/boy's birthday card to cover the theme of the challenge, I am always short of masculine cards to give away!
I have used gingham backing papers available from Bev Rochester's blog. I often change the colour of these backing papers on my computer to suit the colour scheme I am using but these two I left alone.
The ribbon is from my stash, the flowers are from Prima with buttons from my button box.
The hanging sign is a die, I cut it out of antique gold mirri and slightly aged it more with rub-ons.

This cute guy is called 'Golfer Max' and has been designed by our own Lexi Lee and available from Fairy Dust Crafts. I used promarkers to colour and shade the image.

We are also holding a DT Call at Lexi's if you wish to be considered please enter the challenge and put DT after your name.

Thank you so much for looking today, and for all your fabulous comments.
Love and hugs
