Fussy and Fancy ....Try a new technique

Hi Susan here....

Today at Fussy and Fancy it is again the turn of Group B to show you some inspiration for the ongoing challenge 'Try a New Technique'.

For full information about the challenge, our sponsor and more inspiration call across to

Now for my card......

This card was made originally with my Son-in-law in mind for his birthday. He is someone very special and I truly hope his day was the best.
My new technique was printing on kraft and although I coloured the majority of the image in with black chalk, I added here and there a hint of colour using chalks. I was really pleased with the result and will definately be using it again.

The card was made in the 'tent' style to give me the width I wanted.  I used a border punch on some beautiful blue motled card and a strip of kraft which I distressed with inks. The string and embroidery thread are from my stask, as is the backing paper, which I distressed using the same distressing ink on the edges.
My ticket sentiment is from Raindrop Echo Designs.

Here is the image I used with chalks to give you a close up.
The digi image has been designed by Marina Neira and is available from The Stamping Bazaar Store, he is called 'Bikkie the Platypus' The buttons I covered myself from scraps of fabric.

A Christmas gift......

Hey everyone, Emma here......

Well, I had some time spare again over the last couple of weeks and I thought I would make another gift ready for Christmas.  I really love making notebooks, they make the most fabby presents,  and I COULD NOT resist using one of the most GORGEOUS stamps around....

......I am so in love with the new Nellie Snellen stamps...they are just the most sweetest designs ever!!!  This one is called 'Frog on Flower', and I have got to say the little frog stole my heart hehehe!!!  You see....I have a weakness for frogs....I LOVE THEM....

My One True Love......
.....'Kermit'.....!!!!!

I just can't help it...I really love anything that has a frog on it!!!!

I used some paper that I had in my stash for years and I really loved it for this delicate sweet image, all the edges have been distressed, glittered and machine stitched...

....I have watercoloured with Distress Inks,  the nobbly trim, ribbon and lace are from the market....

....I made the twisted ribbon flower myself and the other flowers are from Hobbycraft, I used a label machine for the words...

....I added a cute little vintage button that I also had in my stash.

So....I am going to parcel this gift up with some fancy pens and pencils and there you have it....a great little Christmas gift!!!

Thanks so much for looking and all the lovely comments which I love reading....

Sentimental Sundays....Monochrome

Hi Susan here....

Today at Sentimental Sundays our new challenge is starting and the theme is -
'MONOCHROMATIC'
I love this type of challenge as most of my cards seem to be shades of one colour.
For full details of the challenge and to see what all the other design team members have done to give you some inspiration call across to the Sentimental Sundays Challenge Blog.

Now onto my card...

This can be a difficult theme to follow I know...but I chose to use shades of one colour 'Pink' with white and I like the effect. I have made the card to suit either a birthday to a loved one, or an anniversary card, as the sentiments are all about love.
The chipboard hearts in the foreground are a die from Sizzix, I have added glitter to one of them.
The definition sentiment and postage stamp are from our stash, the colour was amazing as they turned out to be the exact shade as my backing papers which were also from my stash of leftovers from 12x12 pads from HOTP Romance.
My flowers are from Hobby Craft the leaves I made from card, inks and a ball tool.

This beautiful digi image is from Wee Stamps, isn't it the most gorgeous stamp, I love it! I have used just chalks to colour this image and was really pleased with the effects, I love using chalk pencils they are so precise and the colours just blend so well together.
I have added gems to the image for a little bit of sparkle. I gently chalked the background in a pale pink, although its not very evident in the photo, and then mat and layered it onto a piece of my background paper.

This is to show the inside of my card....still keeping to the monochromatic and my love theme.

This beautiful sentiment was made special for me by Ann Vento, and is available from Raindrop Echo Designs. I absolutely love this sentiment from John Lennon, it's one of my favourites.

Fussy and Fancy.....Back to School

Hi Susan here....

It is that time again, we are half way through the challenge over at Fussy and Fancy so Group B has the chance to give you all some more inspiration so that you can decide to come and join us. The ongoing challenge theme is -
'Back to School'

For full details of the challenge and to see all the inspirational work from Group A and B take a look over at Fussy and Fancy Challenge Blog.

Now onto my card....

My backing paper is all from my stash. I used bright bold colours because it is a card for a child, and bright colours are fun for kids cards....
All the fancy school buttons are from our local market, we have had them in our stash for ages.
I used several pieces of bright coloured card to paper weave, I liked this effect. It's a simple technique that even children do in school when they are making things to bring home for their Mums.

This gorgeous image is from Bugaboo and I have used promarkers to colour and shade. I cut the image out and then stuck it onto a base green card that I trimmed to the shape of the image.

This is the inside of the card, showing the card school ABC border, this comes in 12 inch strips with a fabulous curved edge and is great for cutting out the odd letter as I did for the front of my card. The sentiment I used on the inside has been designed by Ann Vento and is available from Raindrop Echo Designs.

A card for a friend.....

Hi Susan here....

I have only been working at my new job for a few months now and have made some really nice friends, one young friend is leaving the store this week and I wanted her to have a card off me. Her name is 'Tram', pronounced 'Chum' and she is a really nice girl, always helpful and funny and made me feel part of the 'family' straight away.

Hope you like your card Tram......

My backing paper is from my stash, we bought a few sheets of this 12x12 paper when on holiday in USA and kept pulling it out and stroking it, you all know what I mean, but it is such a gorgeous paper I couldn't resist using just a tiny square of it for my card, of course when we get down to the last piece that won't be touched!!
My doiley is from a Marianne die that does several layers, and embosses as well, this is the middle layer.
The ribbon, lace and pearls are as usual from our local market.

This beautiful little stamped image is from Lili of the Valley and isn't she just gorgeous, I have used promarkers to colour and shade this time and love the effect.
My ticket sentiment has been designed by Lexi Lee and available from Fairy Dust Crafts.
My butterfiles are made using a punch, inks, glitter and pearls.

My flowers are a mix, the smaller roses and buds are from Hobby Craft, the large flower I have made using a die, card, inks and a bit of patience, my leaves have been made using card, deckle scissors and inks.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my card, and for all your wonderful comments.

Love and hugs

My swirls are from a Marianne Creatables Die and I coloured them using Tim Holtz distressing inks.

This is such a beautiful sentiment and frame designed by Ann Vento and available from Raindrop Echo Designs. I have coloured the frame with chalks then added glossy accents to the little leaves. My flowers have been made using two dies, card pieces and inks, the leaves are totally DIY, using bits of white card, inks, deckle edged scissors and a ball tool for shape.
